The Peak of May Fun
There are plenty of reasons to love May—flowers are blooming, everyone’s getting outside, and it’s time to enjoy spring in full swing. If that’s not enough, Southlands has two more reasons to look forward to May this year!
The Kentucky Derby is an annual horse race held in—you guessed it—Louisville, Kentucky, usually on the first Saturday of May. As one of the longest running sporting events in the nation, the event dates back to 1875 and is known for its rich traditions, including sipping mint juleps and donning fancy hats, sundresses, and seersucker suits.
Every year, there are countless viewing parties nationwide for those who can’t make it in-person. For the first time ever, Southlands is hosting one for you! In addition to watching the epic race on the big screen, you can look forward to food and signature drinks from Southlands restaurants, live music from local favorite Montage, and family-friendly lawn games. And for the kids, we’ve lined up special activities, games, and two rescued mini therapy horses from Peachy Farms! Grab your biggest and best hats and join us Saturday, May 7 from 2:30–5pm in Town Square!
There’s nothing like connecting our community with local farms, businesses, and artisans to enjoy the freshest local food. We’re kicking off our annual Farmer’s Market on Saturday, May 7th, so you can shop local seasonal fruits, vegetables, baked goods, jams, jellies, and more. Get some fresh air, relax, and enjoy a wonderful morning of community and fresh, local goodies! Join us every Saturday from May 7th–October 1st, 8am–1pm in Town Square.
PLEASE NOTE: On May 7th Only, Southlands Farmer’s Market will be located on E. State Avenue. All dates thereafter, the Farmer’s Market will be located on Town Square.
